In person Piano, Organ, Accordion teacher
Dr. Neal is a native of Martins Ferry, OH and a lifetime teacher and performer in that Ohio Valley area. His education includes Bachelor, Master and Doctoral degrees in piano performance from the College-Conservatory of Music of Cincinnati, OH. He earned a Master of Music Theory degree from Ohio State University. In addition, he studied with Nadia Boulanger at the Ecoles Des Americanes of Fontainebleau, France and holds a service playing certificate from the American Guild of Organists.
Neal’s positions have included public school teaching at Flushing, OH High School (Band) and Barnesville, OH Schools (Chorus). He was on the faculty of West Liberty State College in WV and the College Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, OH. he has held numerous positions as organist and choir director in area churches and is currently the Minister of Music at the First Presbyterian Church in St. Clairsville, OH.
A diverse and versatile career has included classical concerts as solo organist or pianist, community choral and instrumental programs as conductor and large-scale piano recitals as teacher. Area residents may recall the “Pianorama” productions at the Capitol Music Hall in the late 1990s. He has toured extensively throughout the country as pianist/keyboard person for variety groups and as organist for the circus.
On May 1, 2015, at the age of 80, Millard Neal received the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance from the College-Conservatory of Music of Cincinnati, OH.
